WELCOME TO WEDGEFIELD - A Deed Restricted Community

What does it mean to be a “Firewise Community”?

Firewise is a national program that emphasizes community education and mitigation to reduce the risk of a wildfire destroying communities and lives. We have the distinction of being #3 in the United States. Yearly, we must quantify our efforts in order for Wedgefield to maintain Firewise status. This is important for all the residents because this enables Wedgefield to receive mitigation funding to combat our neighborhood’s wildfire risk.

The best example of Firewise working for us is the Dry Hydrants located in the estate area. They provide our own water source for fire truck fill-ups. There are 2 on Bancroft at Reynolds and Somerset. And, 2 on Dallas at Newburg and Reynolds. Recently, Orange County Fire Rescue repaired and exercised our dry hydrants. Dry Hydrants add tremendously to a fire departments efficiency and are a cost-effective solution to protect homes in a Wildland Urban Interface. Dry Hydrants have no pressure and require drafting to fill engines. However, enhanced water availability is capable of saving many homes and lives.

So, Please support Wedgefield Firewise by becoming an agent yourself. Educate neighbors about Firewise concepts as seen on the Wedgefield Firewise Facebook Page. Together, we will ensure Wedgefield always remains a Firewise Community and that we have the ability to protect ourselves and our property.
