OCU takeover of Pluris
Orange County Utility is working through their procurement process to hire the needed help: legal and accounting. They have budgeted for this process into 2019. This is important because it means that even though we are not CURRENT customers of OCU, they are using their funds to help us navigate this process.
For now as residents, we still have work to do. As discrepancies in your billing, water quality or water service occur, please report them to the proper authorities: FDEP, Orange County Commissioners and Mayor and Public Service Commission. See below for all the addresses. In addition, the comment form for the PSC is being reprinted in our May newsletter. We still have time to get comments into the PSC to help our case with OCU and help affect the water rate increase that Pluris has requested. There is a quick update below on the rate increase.
Quick Update on Water Rate Increase (Docket 2017-0166)

Essentially, PSC staff is recommending the rate increase minus some minor charges such as: cell tower rental – which does not exist but was proposed at one point, a $2+K charge that was billed for the Maxim wastewater break that was placed into the AMI meter project, etc. The report details the four projects and the reasoning PSC staff uses to justify the rate increase.
