WELCOME TO WEDGEFIELD - A Deed Restricted Community

Wedgefield Neighborhood Watch | March – April, 2018

The Wedgefield NHW is strictly watch and report. No pursuit, no patrol, no confrontation, just watch and report.
From March 26 to the present date of April 12, 2018 based on Orange County Sheriff’s crime statistics and individual reports not yet reflected in the statistics there has been 6 residential burglaries. One on Quinlan in the 19xxx Block, One on Nettleton in the 20xxx Block, one on Sarmundham in the 19xxx Block, and one on Ralston in the 19xxx Block and one on Quinella in the 19xxx Block. I also have had reports of thefts from builder sites that do not show up on OCSO’s website.

There was no set time of occurrence, two after dark and 4 during the day so please keep an eye out for your neighbors and promptly report suspicious activity. Do remember the best crime prevention device known to man or woman is a good neighbor. And a good neighbor knows to call OCSO when things are not right – get to know your neighbors and let them know you.
Remember the method to gain access for a burglary is most often started by ringing the doorbell to see if anyone is home followed by going in back and breaking into the home.

We NEVER OPEN OUR DOOR to someone unless we know who it is and we want to talk with them. If we do not want to talk with them be sure they know someone is home by saying, “GO AWAY” or “HARRY GET YOUR GUN” even if HARRY does not live with you.

The fact that there are only 3 exits from Wedgefield a prompt report and accurate description of a vehicle and its occupants involved in the crime may result in a traffic stop by responding deputies.

On another issue those who missed the NHW and HOA meeting, you missed hearing from Mr. Joe Lopez a retired FHP Officer who is running for Orange County Sheriff. He succinctly covered his plan for the foundation and cornerstone of his administration with his three priorities: Violent Crime Reduction; Community Policing; and Recruitment/Retention/Department Moral.

Of great concern is the filling of department vacancies with quality personnel.

Special thanks to Denise Grage our NHW Facebook Coordinator for keeping our NHW Facebook page neighborly and smooth running. Through her efforts, we continue to add residents to the membership. Keep up the good work Denise we thank you.

Now let us all be good neighbors and make the effort to be observant and take appropriate action “SEE SOMETHING – SAY SOMETHING”

To report a crime in progress, fire or medical emergency Dial 911. The number to report suspicious activity or a crime committed Dial 407-836-HELP (4357).

After dialing the appropriate OCSO Number:

PLEASE THEN CALL PHIL UNSER at 407-679-6644 (24hrs). This helps Phil to keep an accounting of what is happening in our neighborhood and make sure that these reports stay accurate and up-to-date.
