WELCOME TO WEDGEFIELD - A Deed Restricted Community

Neighborhood Watch November/December 2018

The Wedgefield NHW is strictly watch and report. No pursuit, no patrol, no confrontation, just watch and report.

Since OCTOBER 25th, to the present date of DECEMBER 10, 2018 based on Orange County Sheriff’s crime statistics and individual reports not yet reflected in the statistics there was 1 reported automobile burglary on NETTLETON in the 20900 block. There also was a residential burglary on MACON in the 20600 block.

Additionally, I have had 3 calls regarding unleashed dogs causing concern with walkers and other dog owners that have their dogs on a leash. Residents are reminded that the only time a dog can be unleashed is in their own yard. An additional 2 calls related to dog owners not picking up their dog’s mess. This certainly is less than responsible ownership, and as we know NHW has no authority other than watch and report so I recommended the individuals contact both Code Enforcement and Animal Control.

Several Sundays ago at about 4 AM a teen returning from somewhere did not negotiate the gentle curve on Maxim. Deputies estimated the speed to be about 60MPH. Just a word of caution to everyone who is out and about in Wedgefield. Please be safe and mind the posted speed limits. Be especially mindful at our known danger spots. Virtually every intersection

Last but not least this is also the time of year when we THANK those who have done so much toward the support of our community. Ranger Drainage, station 86 our Fire Station and crews, our assigned Sector 2 deputies and of course our current and past HOA board members.

And a special thanks to our WEB MASTER, Diana for our Wedgefield web site and News Letter lay out efforts, and to the advertisers and supporters of our News Letter that allows every mail address in Wedgefield to get a copy.

SPECIAL THANKS to Denise Grage our NHW Face Book Coordinator for keeping our NHW Face Book page neighborly and smooth running. Denise tells me we have over 1,724 NHW Face book members. Given that number of members watching and reporting may very well be the reason that reported crime stats for Wedgefield are as low as they are. A Well done to everyone involved with the NHW Program.

Now let us all be good neighbors and make the effort to be observant and take appropriate action “SEE SOMETHING – SAY SOMETHING”

To report a crime in progress, fire or medical emergency Dial 911. The number to report suspicious activity or a crime committed Dial 407-836-HELP (4357).

After dialing the appropriate OCSO Number:

PLEASE THEN CALL PHIL UNSER at 407-679-6644 (24hrs). This helps Phil to keep an accounting of what is happening in our neighborhood and make sure that these reports stay accurate and up-to-date.
