July 2018 Ranger Drainage Update

Rainger Drainage District LogoI hope that each of you enjoyed the District’s Annual edition of “Water Matters” that went out in April. If you did not receive a copy, we still have a few available at the District office or you can access it on our website at www.rangerdrainagedistrict.com.

Rainy season is upon us! Our field crews continue working diligently on regular maintenance activities. Mowing, swale cleaning, aquatic spraying etc.

There are a few items I would like to remind you of.

Driveway culvert pipes are installed at each driveway in the District at the roadside swale. These pipes are CRUCIAL to the functionality of the storm water system. We continue to experience many failures where grass is blocking the water from flowing through the pipe. As a reminder, the maintenance activity of keeping debris removed or grass cut away from the pipe is the responsibility of each homeowner/landowner.

At the District office we have received 16 ¼ “of rain in the month of May up until June 19th. I like to remind folks that all of the swales within the District are designed to hold water. If you have called with a concern about the water and upon inspection it was determined there was an issue, then you have been placed on our list for swale work. Our small crew works diligently to schedule, prioritize and respond to the maintenance needs within the District. If you have been on the list for awhile, we have no forgotten you and will get to you as soon as time permits.

Parents please remind your children that fishing in District canals and retention ponds is limited to persons who either own the property that they are fishing on or have written permission from the property owner at the site where they are fishing. Access to the site is limited to that property owner or that property owner’s guest, who must have written permission. Mallard Lake, however, is open for fishing to the landowners of the District. Mallard Lake can be accessed from Maxim Pkwy only along the RDD easement. The District will prosecute those who Trespass in unauthorized areas.
