WELCOME TO WEDGEFIELD - A Deed Restricted Community

“Death Toll For A Community”

Realtors chant “Location, Location” but there is more to choosing a community for what may be that “forever” home. Young couples or families want good schools, everyone is looking for safety. Value is important as is the convenience to services, fun destinations, and employment. Think about why you decided to buy or build in Wedgefield. Wedgefield has always been a diamond in the rough. It has everything listed above and more. The initial Developer insured that the decisions governing the future of the community were sound and simple; in other words, “Deed Restricted” to protect all of the properties. The Developers inserted the requirement for a Volunteer Homeowners Association not a Mandatory one with onerous outrageous mandatory fees, and with a Board to oversee and logically enforce the Deed Restrictions. For almost 50 years, as the community started to grow, this was not a problem. Residents were willing to volunteer to serve on the Homeowners Association Board. Unfortunately, things have changed and
residents are no longer willing to volunteer for anything connected with the HOA Some are quick to criticize, complain, or accuse without facts. The “Leave us alone”, “Too Busy”, “Can’t be bothered”, “Don’t want to get involved” attitude hurts the entire community. Imagine what Wedgefield would become if there was no enforcement of the Deed Restrictions, no control over what can be built, what businesses can operate. Property values would drop. Simple things like the lighting at the front entrance would be gone as would the watering of the plantings. There would be no events in the park, no monthly newsletters. All the things that made you choose to buy or build in Wedgefield would go away. Come December 2019 there will be an election for the HOA Board of Directors. If there is not a full slate of volunteers for the vacancies in the Voluntary Homeowners Association the HOA might cease to exist and Wedgefield as we know it might die. Please consider stepping forward and volunteering to be part of the sustainability of our wonderful way of life here in Wedgefield. Submitted by a concerned citizen
