Many residents joined together on December 24th to show the men and women who man our Wedgefield Fire Station that they are appreciated. They were given a feast for Christmas. In addition to enough home cooked food to feed the crew on duty as well as the crew that replaced them on Christmas morning, they were given a blender thanks to cash donations from some.
Wedgefield has not had a manned Fire Station for very long and those who lived here in the late 1900’s know well what it is like to face a major fire in the community. These men and women are on duty not only to put out fires but to be the first responders in any medical emergencies. We should make an effort during the year, not only during the holidays to let them know that they are appreciated.
