Track and Field Team

Our first Track and Field Team did an outstanding job this spring. One of our 7th grade students, Koby Atkinson, made it to District competition for shotput. While we are waiting for the final results, we already know he will place in the Top 5! Way to Go!!!!

Community Service

Thank you to our National Junior Honor Society for giving back to our local Fire Department. They collected water, protein bars and other nutritional snacks for the Wedgefield Fire Station engine 86.

Thank You ADDition Volunteers and Partners in Education!
We were honored to host a special breakfast for all our Wedgefield ADDitions volunteers and Partners in Education. They have logged over 10,000 total volunteer hours this year! While many were unable to make it to our breakfast, we made sure to send everyone certificates and a beautiful custom Wedgefield bag as a thank you for all of their dedication and service to our school. We hope to continue to build the community partnerships and ADDItion volunteers next year. It takes all of us to make our school a great place to be! Thank you volunteers and business partners!

Partner in Education Award

Wedgefield School has established a strategic partnership with Lockheed Martin to enhance the meaning and effectiveness of its STEM programs. Leveraging professional connections from his career as an engineer, our PLTW teacher, Scott Bawden, now includes engineers form Lockheed Martin’s Global Simulation and Training division in Orlando to provide supplemental and enriching classroom presentations that highlight the technology behind simulation projects such as flight trainers. Using examples of the rich graphic environments and user immersive virtual environments they create, Students gain insight into some of the most creative career opportunities for engineers, designers and artists.

Wedgefield has also been graciously provided examples of the state-of-the-art 3D printing, water jet metal cutting and CNC multi-axis machining projects they routinely perform for their customers. These hands-on manipulatives give Students better understanding of how the designs of engineers and artists come to life. It also offers the students the opportunity to stay affront in this ever changing time. We received an award for outstanding student opportunities through our partnership with Lockheed Martin.
