On Saturday, October 1st the Ranger Drainage District held their 1st Annual Lake Davis Family Fishing Day at Lake Davis. The Central Florida Zoo brought a little bit of the Zoo to us and taught a class on each native animal they brought.
Jungle Adventures from Christmas was on site with “Sparkles” a 15 Year Old Florida Panther that stole everyones heart. The kid’s (and adults) had a great time holding the baby alligator, petting snakes etc. and learning about each one.
For some, this was the first opportunity to try gator meat. Pop’s BBQ did an awesome job cooking up some delicious gator meat, free to anyone who wanted it.
Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission added a lot to the day by passing out brochures, coloring books and bracelets (just to name a few) and to answer questions.
The day brought approximately 268 residents out to enjoy the beauty of Lake Davis and mingle with their fellow neighbors. This event was solely funded by sponsors and we thank each of them for making our 1st Annual event memorable.
