WELCOME TO WEDGEFIELD - A Deed Restricted Community

Neighborhood Watch February – March 2017

Wedgefield NHW- No pursuit, No patrol, No confrontation, JUST WATCH and REPORT.

During the last half of FEBRUARY to the present date of MARCH 12, 2017 based on Orange County Sheriff’s crime statistics listed on the OCSO web site we have had 2 residential burglaries One on ARCHER in the 3400 Block and One on QUARTERLY in the 19xxx Block. We also had 1 reported auto burglary on BAKER in the 5xxx  Block.

In addition I have received phone calls regarding vandalism on MACON  and calls regarding Trespassers on the canals with motor vehicles. And I have seen several postings regarding reckless driving etc., on Face Book. We are reminded that the process to stop some of this stuff is first a call to OCSO on the appropriate number 911 or (407) 836- 4357 and then a call to me (407) 679-6644 and then post on Face Book if you wish. Regarding Golf Course or Canal issues after hours again OCSO then call me as the designated representative.

Building on the statement that Neighborhood Watch is not the police of the neighborhood but rather are the eyes and the ears of Law Enforcement we can go on to say that Neighborhood Watch does not patrol and it does not confront.

In regards to the confronting issue, I occasionally will see a posting in Face Book or get a Neighborhood Watch call from someone following a vehicle that has dumped something or done some other thing that is less than neighborly. Quite frankly do not waste time, immediately call the Sheriff – we often have a deputy in the neighborhood and the deputy can properly handle the issue. Those who have been pulled for running a stop sign or caught speeding will attest to that. Take a deep breath, get a good description and call the appropriate number then call me. We only have 3 exits out of Wedgefield and a good description and a statement of the infraction is sufficient to alert a deputy who may be nearby.

We have had some issues in our Wedgefield Park regarding motor cycles and go carts. Both are not allowed to be ridden in the park. Talking with the Park Superintendent in Bithlo he is going to post new signs so stating the prohibition as well as Crime Reporting signs that list the numbers to call when there are reportable issues in the park. That park is there for the enjoyment of our residents and it is up to us to keep it safe and available for everyone without fear or confrontation with those who do not respect the rights of others. Again see something say something

On a happy note EVELYN RODRIGUEZ PEREZ continues to keep our Wedgefield NHW Face Book page neighborly and smooth running 1,438 MEMBERS.

Now let us all be good neighbors and make the effort to be observant and take appropriate action “SEE SOMETHING – SAY SOMETHING”
