WELCOME TO WEDGEFIELD - A Deed Restricted Community

Neighborhood Watch – July/August 2016

NeighborhoodWatchDuring the last half of JULY to the present date of AUGUST 12, 2016 based on Orange County Sheriff’s crime statistics listed on the OCSO web site we have had NO REPORTED CRIMES in Wedgefield.

I filed a police report on line after waiting over 2.5  hours for a deputy to respond and reported that we had 9 mail boxes destroyed on ARDON, MELVILLE and BALLARD streets in the city area. There was also a report on Face book that a vehicle was broken into on Sea View. The report also stated an on line report was made. And I got a call regarding the Break-in of a vacant home in the 2600 block of ARDON.

Neither report shows up on OCSO. I am firmly convinced that the slow response time is forcing the on line reporting that never gets to us on the OCSO web site, thus presenting a false picture of crime in our area. Again altering perceived crime stats because of the election. I do need to get a call when one files on line and any time you call OCSO so that we have a true picture of crime in our neighborhood.

This year we celebrated NHW Night out by turning our lights on and visiting our neighbors on the 2nd of August. Next October 4th we will again celebrate NHW Night Out with an event in Wedgefield Park with ice cream, root beer and face painting.

Last but not least I have seen at least 2 reports on Face Book of solicitors holding a flag and wanting to get in your home to discuss opening a new store or to sell some merchandize. In either case they have a flag to give you but it is a reported scam from Brevard County so do not let them in and do report it to the non emergency number if they show up at your door.

Now let us all be good neighbors and make the effort to be observant and take appropriate action
